Since 2006, set as promotional sports tourism and active lifestyle product / event. It has been ever since one of the principal middle distance triathlon races in Europe, also known as the fattest middle-distance triathlon race in the world.

The event brought to Lisbon participants from 78 different countries and has the all-time record for foreign participants in any sports event organized in Portugal, with 83% foreign athletes’ participation in 2006.

Since year one it represented over 20.000 rooming nights and over 15.000.000€ in direct revenue. It is the only ongoing triathlon event in Portugal to be recognized as of “public interesse” by the government and it was one of 4 events select for a study by the city of Lisboa on the impact of major sports events in the city.
